When it comes to firefighting, everyone will think of the daunting word 'fire'. In fact, there are multiple fires in our country every year, and a large amount of national property and countless families are instantly turned into ashes. These shocking and real events make us have to take them seriously. Effectively improving fire safety awareness and management capabilities, widely popularizing fire regulations, and truly mastering fire safety skills and common sense, we urgently need to!

On April 11th, the company invited Instructor Zhu Liang from the Heilongjiang Provincial Fire Promotion Center to provide us with a professional training on "Fire Safety Knowledge". The cases in the training were shocking to the participants, and we still have many blind spots in terms of fire safety awareness that need to be continuously strengthened in our future work and life. We have summarized the main points of the training as follows:

 

1、 The importance of fire safety

1. Understand the hazards of fire: Fire not only damages material property, causes chaos in social order and ecological balance, but also indirectly or directly endangers human life. Everyone should have a clear understanding of the structure and escape routes of the buildings where they work and live.

2. In general, after a fire occurs, both the alarm and firefighting should be carried out simultaneously: a fire alarm (119) will be reported, the location of the fire should be clearly stated, and fire-fighting equipment should be used correctly in the initial stage of the fire. If there is an electric fire, the power should be cut off first.

3. Everyone is responsible for fire protection.

 

2、 Fire Precautions

1. Choose an escape route based on the location of the fire, understand the location of the fire exits in the office area, and confirm the location of the fire exits for business trips and hotel stays;

2. Choose a escalator and do not take regular elevators (excluding fire rated elevators);

3. Cover your mouth and nose with a damp towel and walk through safety exits;

4. Stick to the wall in a low position and move forward in an orderly manner, with the back of your hand facing outward, and avoid panic and crowding;

5. Reduce physical exposure;

6. Correctly use smoke masks;

 

3、 Sequence of steps for using fire extinguishers

The specific steps for using a fire extinguisher are to invert the bottle several times before use to loosen the dry powder inside the cylinder. Then, remove the lead seal, pull out the safety pin, hold the nozzle with your left hand, and hold the pressure handle with your right hand. At a distance of two meters from the flame, press down the pressure handle with your right hand, and swing the nozzle with your left hand to the right. Spray the dry powder over the combustion area until the fire is completely extinguished. Fire extinguisher is a portable fire extinguishing tool and one of the common fire prevention facilities. Fire extinguishers are stored in public places or places where fire may occur. They are divided into different types, such as portable type and wheeled type. Different types of fire extinguishers contain different ingredients and are designed for different fires, including foam, dry powder, haloalkane, etc. Fire extinguishing equipment is a necessary fire-fighting equipment that is often neglected and needs to be showcased when needed. Especially in today's world where high-rise buildings stand tall and the interior is decorated with a large amount of wood, plastic, and fabric, if there is a fire and appropriate fire extinguishing equipment is not available, it may lead to major disasters. There are many types of fire extinguishers, which can be divided into portable type and trolley type according to their movement mode, gas cylinder type, pressure storage type and chemical reaction type according to the power source of driving fire extinguishing agent, and foam, dry powder, haloalkane, carbon dioxide, clean water, etc. according to the filled fire extinguishing agent.

 

4、 Fire prevention measures in the work area

1. Do not use too many high-power electrical appliances on the same socket to prevent overheating and ignition of the socket;

2. Small electrical appliances such as shredders and sealers have poor heat dissipation, and should be kept away from combustible materials and checked at all times when used;

3. The charging time of electronic products such as mobile phones and laptops should not be too long to avoid battery explosion;

4. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the office area. Smoking should be done in the smoking area, and cigarette butts should not be thrown into the waste paper basket to ensure that people leave and smoke out;

5. It is prohibited to stack debris at the evacuation stairs and safety exits in the office area to avoid fire and escape;

6. Turn off the power switches of computers, printers, conference tablets, air conditioners, etc. after work, check the office area power switch, and ensure that power is cut off when people walk;

7. Prohibit the use of illegal electrical appliances unrelated to office work;

8. Smoking and hot work are prohibited in the factory area and during the transportation of goods;

9. When abnormal phenomena such as smoking and burning occur in the operating equipment, the power supply of the equipment should be immediately cut off and the power personnel should be notified for maintenance;

10. When moving electrical equipment, the power supply must be cut off first;

12. Outside the warehouse and in the open-air storage yard, it is necessary to achieve the "three no retention" principle, namely no weeds, no garbage, and no combustible materials.

Life cannot be rehearsed, and fire safety cannot be ignored. It is a critical period for fire prevention in spring. We hope that all colleagues at home and abroad can be vigilant, take preventive measures, take responsibility for themselves and those around them, always remember fire safety regulations, and ensure the safety of life and property.
